Last night, President Biden addressed the nation from Independence Hall. His message was clear: our republic is in danger. Since the 2020 election, far-right extremists have perpetuated misinformation and attempted to instill fear and mistrust in our elections. President Biden sounded the alarm, and I am reaching out to join him in doing so. This is a crisis, and we need you in this fight.
I have taken action to protect and preserve democracy in Colorado. When Tina Peters spread lies and compromised her voting equipment, I took action to stop her from further threatening the integrity of Mesa County’s elections. When election workers were threatened, I passed legislation that protects election workers and voters. We have made progress, but there is still work to be done.

Like President Biden said in his address, American Democracy is not guaranteed. It takes everyone working together to do their part to protect it. When those who believe in the Big Lie attempt to suppress and disenfranchise voters who may not agree with them, it is up to us to stand firm in the values this country was founded on. When MAGA extremists refuse to accept the outcome of a free and fair election, it is up to us to take action to preserve our democracy.
