The Trump administration announced rule changes to the SNAP program, formerly known as food stamps, that would tighten work requirements for receiving benefits -- kicking almost 700,000 people off of much-needed benefits. This latest move, combined with two other proposed rule changes yet to be finalized, would force a total of 3.7 million Americans off of SNAP.
If this doesn’t show the inhumanity and heartlessness of the current government, we don’t know what does. Telling families in need that they are on their own and that the government no longer supports them is cruel, demeaning, and harmful while saving the government only pennies.
