I recently launched a summer workforce initiative and website: TX24Works.com, a one-stop shop with links and information on workforce opportunities in North Texas. This week, we highlighted the technology and STEM industry, which encompasses thousands of jobs around DFW. I have met with many vocational schools and businesses looking to employ Texas’ next generation of workers, and I am excited to provide these resources to North Texans and empower our workforce. Watch my short video below to learn more.

My office offers several opportunities for students to participate and compete in throughout the year. Please visit our Student Programs Overview page for more information regarding eligibility and program deadlines.

It’s still early in the school year, but it's time for students to start applying for the Congressional Youth Advisory Council. We do not want any students to miss out on this opportunity and want to remind you that the deadline to apply has been extended to 5:00 pm on Tuesday, October 4, 2022. To learn more information about the program and to download the application, please click here. Our office has received applications from some outstanding students, so we cannot wait to see who else applies!

I am also excited to be hosting another Telephone Town Hall next Wednesday, September 7th at 4pm CST. I will be joined by a special guest from the Social Security Administration’s Dallas Regional Public Affairs Office to discuss how my office can assist with federal agencies and talk about the other great programs we offer for students and veterans each year, such as our Congressional Youth Advisory Council, Military Academy nominations, and the Vietnam Veteran Commemoration. If you would like to participate, please fill out this quick form here, and be sure to follow me on Twitter and Facebook for important updates regarding this Town Hall.

Hometown Hero of the Week

This week’s Hometown Heroes are the amazing women who founded Pipeline to Possibilities. On behalf of our entire community, I’d like to thank Judges Kelly, Huff, Green, and Givens for their dedication to brightening North Texas and inspiring the next generation. You can read more about their nonprofit here.

I would love to hear more stories from constituents who have worked to brighten our amazing North Texas community. If you or someone you know fits this description, be sure to fill out this short survey so we can highlight their story.
