John xxxxxx, will you back the campaign to extend Zone 6 across Esher and Walton constituency?

Zone 6 was created in 1991. Thirty years later, only two of our nine stations are within Zone 6.

In 2016, over 1,200 local residents signed a petition calling for Zone 6 to be extended to Esher, Hersham, and Walton stations. As MP, I stood behind my constituents and backed this petition to South Western Railway.

I've met hundreds of rail passengers at stations across the constituency
This year, I kickstarted a new campaign calling for Zone 6 to cover all our local stations. Over 500 of you have already signed my petition for better local rail services so far.
Back the campaign
Despite this clear demand, Zone 6 still does not cover Hinchley Wood, Oxshott, Cobham & Stoke D'Abernon, Esher, Hersham, Claygate, Walton-on-Thames stations.

A typical commuter travelling from these stations to London Waterloo will pay 20% more – about £366 a year* - on rail fares every year, compared with a commuter making the same journey from within Zone 6.

Passengers across the constituency deserve fair, consistent rail fares and better value-for-money from local rail services.

*Comparing single, peak fares to London Waterloo taken over 260 working days (5 days a week for one year). The fare from Zone 6 (Hampton Court/Thames Ditton) to Waterloo is £7.30. The average fare across all other stations in Esher and Walton constituency is £8.71.
