Bus Tour

I am traveling across Texas to recognize, galvanize, and mobilize rural Texans across the state to vote RED! I started day four of my 131-city bus tour across Texas at Sissy’s Red Wagon in Brownwood. The owner, Angelique, had a great sign on the door. Back in 2007, when I was elected into the Texas Senate, I passed legislation to place the words “In God, We Trust” in the Senate Chamber, placed Under God in our state pledge, and later as Education Chair passed a bill to allow students to say "Merry Christmas" in our public schools. So you know I loved her sign.

Next, we traveled further into Central Texas to check out a local bank and to meet people within the Coleman community.

I stopped for lunch in Ballinger at Main Street Soda Fountain and met up with the Mayor and the Sheriff. I was able to meet several local patrons and encouraged them to get out and vote this fall.

I sat down and apologized to the couple at the table for having to eat lunch staring at my face staring at them (see the bottom left photo above!)

After lunch, I traveled to San Angelo for a press conference at the Cactus Hotel, built in the 1920s, by Conrad Hilton. This historic hotel stands 14 stories high and is still the tallest building in San Angelo. I love efficiency and at this stop, I was able to speak on my 131-city bus tour through rural Texas to local news outlets while also touring an iconic landmark.

We stopped in M. L. Leddy’s boot shop after and got a special look at how their boots were made, but more on that in a special report later.

After San Angelo, we drove into Sterling City to visit the County Courthouse and visited an old jailhouse that was built back in 1912.

I ended up stopping for dinner at Mary’s Cafe in Colorado City. If you’re ever in the area, I highly recommend their hamburger steak, so delicious! I met several law enforcement officers and had an impromptu radio interview with the County Judge.

Our last stop was in Snyder where I spoke to several conservatives and encouraged them to vote this November and to tell their friends, family, neighbors, everyone… to get out and VOTE RED!
