Hi friend, I'm in this fight to serve the people – not just because eastern North Carolina is my home, but because it's the right thing to do
There aren't enough champions for the little guy in Congress right now. Let me give you an example.
This past month, Congress almost failed to pass a bill that provided millions of veterans with expedited health care and disability payments related to illnesses caused by toxic exposure from burn pits during their service.
Cowardly extremist MAGA Republicans didn't care about saving the lives of our veterans.
It took comedian and activist John Stewart and the veterans group, Burn Pits 360, hard work to create public outrage at their negligence. If you don't stand for something and fight for what you believe, you will fall for anything and die having done nothing.
Many of you know the stakes could not be higher this election. But for me, this story hit home.

When I served as a 1st Lieutenant, I coordinated Air Force One operations at Andrews Air Force Base, and supported families of military members killed in action as a mortuary officer.
When these families needed support and a shoulder to cry on, I was there. That's what serving your country means, showing up for the little guy. What are we doing if we can't fight for the little guy? I'm ready to take care of our own, friend.
