Yesterday was a great day.

President Biden took historic action to cancel up to $20,000 of student debt for eligible borrowers.

This means about 20 million Americans will never have to make another student loan payment. Another 23 million Americans will experience significant relief. And a new income-determined repayment plan will slash monthly costs and keep interest from piling up for people making payments.

We got here because we fought for it. Because we organized and raised our voices to get it done.

By taking this step, President Biden is helping working people who are struggling with rising costs. He’s freeing people up to buy homes or start new businesses or start families. And he’s helping narrow the racial wealth gap for borrowers. It’s a big step forward.

Of course, I will keep fighting for more transformative policies like this. And at the same time, it’s important to take a moment to celebrate the wins along the way in our fight for big, structural change.
