Tech, Older Adults and Churches
While many churches have employed technology to enhance and broaden their reach in recent years, they have sometimes struggled over ways to include older parishioners for whom digital connections aren’t second nature. Methodist Theological School in Ohio will address the issue in a virtual conversation, “Technology, Older Adults and Churches: Opportunities and Challenges,” at 6 p.m. Aug. 31. The event, part of MTSO’s Science and Religion Digital Dialogues series, is free to the public. Advance Zoom registration is required and available at [link removed] //www.mtso.edu/olderadults
Opportunities with NOMADS
NOMADS are retirees who travel and stay in RVs to provide volunteer labor for United Methodist organizations. They do new construction, remodeling, and repairs for churches, children’s homes, camps, colleges, outreach missions and disaster rebuilding. Former Missouri Conference Director Max Marble was recently in Minneapolis where the NOMADS remodeled a parsonage and day care center at two United Methodist churches.

Almost-100 Years as a Methodist
When the Rev. Mel West was growing up in rural Missouri, he said that the trinity of family, farm and church were so intertwined that “one could not think of one without considering the other two.” Now 98, West reflects on his life and the church that helped shape it. Empowering Ministry with Rev. Ken Nash
An In-Person Learning Event
The local church is clearly at a critical crossroads within our culture. Far too many people are disengaging from the church and finding new ways to spend their time. Church leaders, we want to help you face this crisis by equipping you to engage people of all generations within your community. Join us for an in-person event on October 12-13 at Community UMC in Columbia. You’ll learn how to best structure your ministry for full participation from the congregation, the patterns that are sabotaging the momentum of far too many churches today, and discover the best practices for identifying, training and empowering the people for a full engagement of ministry.
