My message was pretty simple

Dear friend,

I just wanted to give you an update about the events I did this last weekend in Philadelphia and Boston.

The theme of the events was "The Working Class: Fighting Back Against Corporate Greed." At these very well-attended rallies I was joined by Sean O'Brien, president of the Teamsters, and Sara Nelson, president of the Association of Flight Attendants. These are two of the most progressive trade union leaders in America and both of them did a great job at the rallies. We did a similar event in June in Chicago.

The message that came from the three of us, as well as the local labor leaders who also spoke, was very clear. At a time of massive and growing income and wealth inequality; at a time when corporate profits are soaring; at a time when many working people are falling further and further behind, now is the time for workers to stand up, fight back, and grow the trade union movement. We cannot allow the Oligarchs to continue controlling the economic, political and media life of our country.

While in Philadelphia and Boston I was also delighted to meet with dozens of local activists and progressive elected officials. We talked about the many crises facing the working families of their communities including health care, affordable housing, student debt and education. While in Boston I was also able to join a picket line with Starbucks workers who are demanding a decent contract.

Thanks very much for being part of the progressive movement, and for the support you give us.

In Solidarity,

Bernie
