Summer Campers Take a PAUSE for Art
Recently, 1st-5th graders and counselors from AHC's Gates of Ballston Summer Camp had a hands-on modern art experience. They visited Gallery 3700, home to Studio PAUSE's newest exhibition from award-winning artist Sushmita Mazumdar and others.

The exhibit even included a map of where they live, along with stories of residents at the Gates. After touring the exhibit, campers created prints that described their emotions after learning more about art.
Summer Camp Comes to a (Fun) End
AHC Summer Camp ended with a picnic and fun at the park. Even AHC President/CEO Paul Bernard got in on helping with jump rope!
Gaining Ground on Digital Equity
By the end of the year, AHC’s residents at The Spire in Alexandria will have access to free, high-speed internet in their apartments and in all common areas of the building.

A generous $174,000 investment from Capital One is helping make this project possible. It includes equipment installation for a building-wide network, internet access through Comcast, and $25,000 to provide technical support and assistance to residents.

Each household will also receive a Chromebook computer as part of the investment. The Spire has 113 affordable apartments, including dozens of school children who live in the building.
Seniors Get Connected at Serrano

Senior residents at the Serrano are soon getting free internet access and training through a partnership with the Alliance for Arlington Senior Programs (AASP).

The Alliance’s Internet for Arlington Seniors program provides free in-home internet access, free computer classes and free in-home use of a laptop for qualifying seniors. Any senior (55 or older) who resides in Arlington, has a demonstrated financial need and fills out an application can join the program.

The Alliance helps every senior accepted in the program enroll with an internet provider such as Comcast or Verizon and arranges monthly payment either through a new federal government program or through AASP funding.

Team AHC Hits the Field
AHC staff recently joined the Bridges to Independence "Safe At Home" kickball tournament. The event brought together families, companies, faith-based groups, and volunteers for friendly competition - all supporting a great cause. Event proceeds help families experiencing homelessness, housing instability, and systemic poverty.
