Hi there — I have a few free minutes in my schedule today, so I wanted to take a moment to quickly reach out and share something with you.

Growing up, I always looked up to my mother. Maybe it was because she was a nursery school teacher or because she was raising three wildly different children, but my mother truly understood people. She valued the differences in every person she met, and then she worked her heart out to make the world a better place for all of us and for her community.

As women across the country were speaking out and demanding rights at the height of the Women’s Rights Movement, there was my mother, as an advocate for her daughter and women in her community.

She was frustrated by the lack of representation in our government, so she got involved in the League of Women Voters, supported a friend who started a town newspaper, and *literally* went door to door to help elect more women to office.

You know, the reason that I’m telling you all of this is because my background is a core part of why I ran for office in the first place — to fight for our community and make a real difference in the lives of others, like my mother did.

In Congress, I’m working to do just that every single day. So far, I’ve introduced more than 40 bills and amendments and have helped pass legislation to reduce the cost of healthcare and prescription drugs, curb gun violence, invest in clean energy, and so much more — and I’m not finished yet.

My promise to you is that I will continue to work tirelessly for you and your loved ones — no matter what you do for a living, what your zip code is, or even if you voted for me or not. I’ll never put petty partisan politics over the folks I was elected to serve and I’ll fight my heart out for the people of North Carolina.

But I can’t do it alone. With a tough reelection battle just a few months away, I’m going to need the support of this grassroots community every step of the way, which is why I’m humbly asking:

Will you chip in to support my reelection campaign so I can continue fighting for our communities in Congress? Thanks in advance for anything you’re able to spare today.
