Hi John –

I’m sitting here on the couch with my daughter Violette sorting through old photos on my phone. Some of my best memories are out on the water, soaking in the beauty of Coastal Virginia with my family. It doesn’t get much better than that.

I’m feeling especially grateful for my family right now. They’ve supported me through it all: overcoming $3 million in outside Republican spending, responding to attack ads distorting my record, and beating the odds to win twice.

Now, they’re by my side in the midst of my toughest election battle yet. That built-in support system has kept me going, no matter how challenging things get.

Make no mistake: this election is a choice between courage and cowardice. Republicans are targeting me because I stood up for our democracy against those who tried to destroy it.

I can’t overstate the urgency of this choice. If Republicans succeed in flipping VA-02 red and sending my election-denying challenger to Congress, they will almost certainly retake the House majority.

A number of recent polls are showing me neck and neck with my opponent – I’m counting on your immediate grassroots support to defeat the GOP and prove that courage will always win.
