[1]Jackson Hole Economic Symposium 101 | Here’s everything you need to know to
get up to speed on the Fed’s most important gathering in one week. | First,
what’s going on: Each year, officials from the Federal Reserve (along with
influential bankers, asset managers, and government officials) [2]gather for the
Jackson Hole Economic Policy Symposium in Wyoming. The event sets important
policy goals and has a huge ripple effect across the entire global financial
system. The climate crisis is a MAJOR threat to our economic stability, and we
need to make climate a priority at the symposium. [ [link removed] ]What we are doing: From
August 25 to 28, we’ll be showing up to peacefully demand action led by our
friends at 350 Colorado. We’ve rented a group campsite and will have folks on
the ground, but we still need your help from afar. What you can do to help: We
need your help to call Bill Medley, the Public Information Officer of The
Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, to make sure climate is on the agenda. The
Kansas City Federal Reserve, as the main organizer of this event, has the moral
obligation to make sure that the Fed prioritizes protecting our planet and
stopping fossil fuel financing. Call Bill Medley at 816-881-2557 [ [link removed] ]Hi, my name
is ____ from ____, and I’m calling to ask whether the climate crisis is going to
be a central part of the agenda for the upcoming Jackson Hole Economic Policy
Symposium. The Federal Reserve is supposed to protect the stability of the US
economy, and the financial well-being of all Americans, and there’s no bigger
threat to our economy than the worsening impacts of the climate crisis. [good
place for something personal – for example: As a resident of ____, I have
experienced stronger storms/droughts/fires and this is a direct result of the
climate crisis. Climate change has affected my community, my family, and myself.
And we can’t keep ignoring what this means for Americans like myself.] The
Federal Reserve must take strong action to end fossil fuel financing and promote
investment in a sustainable, green economy for all, with a particular focus on
the frontline communities most impacted. Can we get your commitment to ensure
climate is a key part of the agenda? [ [link removed] ]Write to Bill Medley | Use our tool to
send a letter to Bill Medley’s email. You can customize your message and it will
be immediately sent to his inbox. What’s next: Stay tuned for more information
directly from the ground in Jackson Hole and more ways you can help amplify our
message no matter where you are. Follow along on social media at #FossilFreeFed.
Together we can demand that climate be the central priority at this meeting and
make clear that we expect an end to fossil fuel financing.
