Bellaire Elementary School rendering
Bellaire Land Swap Agreement

An Official Partnership with HEB ISD

The City of Hurst is excited to announce an official partnership with HEB ISD to support the construction of a new Bellaire Elementary and the redevelopment of the entire campus. HEB ISD is giving the City a portion of land near the former West Hurst Elementary campus at the south end of Hurst Community Park. In exchange, the City is giving HEB ISD a portion of Bellaire Park. This strategic partnership, formalized by an interlocal agreement, includes a land conveyance by both entities that expands Hurst Community Park and increases the Bellaire Elementary campus to accommodate a reconfigured site layout. This new modern campus will be constructed without interfering with the student's learning environment or the need for relocation during the process. Once the new campus is complete, it will offer better traffic management, abundant staff and parent parking, a new playground for the community, and a vital infrastructure enhancement to the neighborhood. The expansion of Hurst Community Park will bring a future opportunity for redevelopment in the south portion of the park as the funding allows.

?We are extremely fortunate to have a strong working relationship with our community partners like HEB ISD,? said Hurst City Manager, Clay Caruthers. ?Our partnerships allow us to better serve our customers and community at-large. The exchange of property will allow Bellaire Elementary students to remain on-campus during construction. This was a top priority for school district officials as they continue to enhance learning environments for aspiring students throughout the district. I?m glad the City was able to assist, and I look forward to the completion of another successful redevelopment project in Hurst.?

Construction of the new elementary facility is scheduled from October 2022 to December 2023. Dates are subject to change due to weather or construction delays. Upon completion, operations will shift to the new school, and demolition of the old facility and final site development will commence. All work on the campus is expected to be complete by the fall of 2024.

The City and HEB ISD look forward to these new developments in our community.
