Our average donation this year is $18.27, far less than the average amount corporate Democrats and the DCCC are raising from Wall Street and corporate PACs. Each $18.27 donation has helped us recruit and elect candidates like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Cori Bush, and Jamaal Bowman, re-elect the Squad, and help two new Justice Democrats win primaries in 2022.

But this month, our fundraising is down 14%. In fact, our fundraising has gone down 6 out of the 8 months this year. None of this is sustainable.

And John, every month we raise more than 50% of our operating budget from emails just like this one. In August, 56% of our fundraising has come from what we send to your inbox. That’s how integral these emails are, and how important your contributions are.

OK, that was a lot of numbers — but it shows our difficult fundraising position.

We operate on a pretty tight budget, especially compared to other political organizations. It’s because we run solely on donations from grassroots supporters like you. We don’t take a cent from corporate PACs — proof of how important your contributions are.

Our fundraising over the next few months will determine how much we can invest in re-electing the Squad and electing new JDs Summer Lee and Greg Casar in November. Our fundraising will also determine how much we can invest in candidate recruitment next year for the 2024 primaries.

We’re building on our progress every day with your help. And we need to keep moving forward by winning Jamaal’s primary next week, our elections in November, and as many primaries as we can in 2024. Every time we win, we give our movement strength, and every future win will bring us closer to Medicare for All and a Green New Deal.
