While it might seem like just another number to you, it means so much more to me. It represents the people-powered movement we’ve built, and showcases how everyday Americans who share common beliefs — truth, justice, equality, and a fair and free democracy — are willing to pitch in a few bucks to keep these values alive.

Through thick and thin, this grassroots team has answered our calls to action, and as a result, we’ve accomplished incredible things. From making history by appointing Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, the first Black woman to the Supreme Court, to passing landmark legislation that addresses the climate crisis, expands health care, enacts gun safety policies, funds infrastructure, boosts jobs, lowers prescription drug costs, and the list goes on:

The American Rescue Plan. The CHIPS and Science Act. The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

These monumental pieces of legislation wouldn’t have been possible without the $5, $10, and $16.79 donations folks like you chip in toward our greater Democratic coalition.

So whenever my team reaches out to let me know we’re having a slower start this month, I point to that average donation of $16.79 and tell them to keep the faith. Because time and time again, this grassroots team has stood together, overcome challenges, and surpassed my expectations — and for that, I am so grateful.
