Sometimes it feels like nothing makes sense anymore. Certainly not the state of America, as abortion rights are being taken away across the country. The vast majority of this country doesn’t want this. Most of this country is in favor of abortion protections.
But the GOP has seized control over these reproductive rights regardless. This is tyranny. This is unjust rule by minority. This is fundamentally inhumane. Most of these people aren’t even pushing for partial bans anymore, or leaving exceptions – they want all abortion gone, with no understanding that abortion is a medically necessary procedure in many cases.
A ten-year-old cannot carry a fetus to term. Their bodies are not meant to, and the only reason they’re pregnant in the first place is because someone in their lives raped them. An ectopic pregnancy will not survive – it’s not even alive in the first place. It will simply grow and kill the mother like terminal cancer, and the fetus will still be dead.
And babies with significant deformities that may impair their survival? Also forced to be carried to term. In Louisiana, a mother is currently being forced to carry a headless fetus to term. A headless fetus. That’s beyond insane. This mother will be forced to carry a dead baby for nine months, knowing that all her labor will go to waste. Even if she wants this baby, she’ll have to live with this physical and psychological pain of knowing that it will never live. And she can’t afford to travel to receive a legal abortion.
This is bizarrely cruel. This is horrific. There’s no reason any of this should happen. Yet the GOP is defending this. They think these are acceptable losses. They fundamentally do not care for the people of this country. They’re a death cult that makes its money on a pile of corpses. They talk about being “pro-life” but they would rather watch a mother die than let her terminate a pregnancy that will kill her.
Meanwhile, these dirty lawmakers funnel money under the table to their girlfriends and mistresses to go receive abortions in legal states. Their own laws don’t apply to them. They’re hypocrites of the highest order, who are only targeting the rural and working-class people of this country, the people who cannot afford to travel and receive secret abortions elsewhere.
We can’t let them create this reproductive dystopia. It’s going to be a hard battle, but there is hope. The recent Kansas referendum vote on abortion shows us that even in the deepest red states, people don’t want abortion bans. This November, we’re sure we can get people to turn out and save abortion rights across this country. We can bring forth a blue wave and show the GOP that they and their cruel vision of America will never be accepted here.
No Dem Left Behind is backing blue candidates in critical red states and districts to turn these GOP strongholds blue. We believe that the rural and working-class people of this nation are being forcibly suppressed, and that with the right message, we can reach them. That we don’t have to leave these folks in the jaws of the GOP, that we can help them save their own rights.
