Friend, the groundswell of support for Julie continues!
UT Austin’s University Democrats have officially endorsed her Congressional bid.
Student activism has driven every movement for social change in this country, from student sit-ins during the Civil Rights movement to March For Our Lives. As we’ve seen this year with Time’s Person of the Year Greta Thunberg, it is youth grassroots movements that are having a real impact and forcing those in power on the national and global stage to take real action.
Julie attended UT Law. She stood with UT grad students organizing for fair pay in 2017. She stood with every UT student organizing in 2018. And she believes that every student at UT who continues to show the courage to fight for the better future we want to see deserves real representation in Congress -- a Representative who will show up, listen, be accountable, and be responsive to those she is elected to serve and represent.
Our path to victory involves getting new voices involved in the process -- especially young people.
Young people are the fuel of any successful campaign, especially for Democrats.
To speak in purely realistic terms, they're the ones who do the thankless grunt work that has to be done to push real ground game. They’re the ones who make campaigns have the most measurable impact on turnout.
If we don't energize the youth vote in 2020, we lose. It's that simple.
Julie's running a different kind of campaign. She doesn’t speak in focus-group-tested language. She’s running on the courage of her convictions on an aspirational platform for a Green New Deal, Medicare for All, real gun safety legislation, and ending student debt. By showing up and listening to those that typical campaigns take for granted, we inspire and motivate new voters throughout District 25 to have a stake in the electoral process.
That's why we're doubling down this weekend to get new supporters registered. But we're still $5,064 away from our goal that we need to reach in the next two days. Please pitch in to help!
