Congressman Al Green Hosts Annual Green Light to Healthy Living Back-to-School Drive and Health Fair

(Houston, TX) — On Monday, August 15, 2022, Congressman Al Green hosted his annual, free Green Light to Healthy Living event at Westbury High School. He released the following statement:

“With the incoming school year right around the corner, it is exceedingly important that our students are equipped with the necessary school supplies and health resources to succeed academically,” Congressman Al Green indicated. “I am proud to be a longtime host of the Green Light to Healthy Living Back-to-School Drive and Health Fair, as well as honored to rely on the invaluable support of the local organizations that help make this event possible. It fills me with great pride to serve families in my Ninth Congressional District, and I look forward to providing them with basic classroom and health needs for many more years to come.”

The Green Light to Healthy Living Back-to-School Drive and Health Fair is an annual event hosted by Congressman Al Green that provides free school supplies and health resources for the community ahead of the incoming school year. Giveaways during the 2022 event included 500 backpacks stuffed with school supplies, COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters, food, prizes, information on Medicaid or CHIP applications, as well as blood pressure and glucose checks.
