John- Dan Crenshaw here. This week, I spoke out against the highly politicized raid of Mar-a-Lago and stressed the need for the Department of Justice to regain the trust of the American people. I also exposed the left’s hypocrisy when it comes to electric vehicles and called out Democrats for voting to hire 87,000 new IRS tax agents. As always, thank you for your support. Now, here’s your brief: MY REACTION TO THE MAR-A-LAGO RAID Click to watch on Instagram, Facebook, or YouTube People are justifiably angry about the highly politicized raid on Mar-a-Lago. They’ve seen a pattern with the Department of Justice going all the way back to the Obama Administration. The Obama Administration’s Justice Department used false evidence to obtain a FISA warrant on Donald Trump’s presidential campaign in 2016, which led to the bogus Russia investigation, the Mueller report, and other frivolous investigations that went nowhere. And now President Biden’s Justice Department just raided Donald Trump’s home. This pattern of malpractice has created immense distrust in the Department of Justice. This institution desperately needs to regain the trust and credibility they’ve lost. But the raid of Mar-a-Lago does the exact opposite. People are right to be upset and we need answers. And you can rest assured that we will be conducting serious oversight of the Department of Justice and every other Biden Administration agency when Republicans take back the House of Representatives in November. You cannot weaponize America’s institutions for political gain. The left always claims our democracy is under attack, but they refuse to acknowledge that threatening the sanctity of our institutions and making people lose faith in them is actually a threat to our democracy. And that is exactly what Biden’s Justice Department has done. We need to be able to trust our institutions and it’s hard for the American people to do that after what we’ve seen this week. THE HEIGHT OF HYPOCRISY Watch on Instagram and Facebook When it comes to electric vehicles, Democrats want all the “stuff” - but want to stop the things that make the stuff from being made here in America. Let me explain. The recent Inflation Expansion Act includes a long-standing Republican initiative that prohibits tax credits for electric vehicles unless the battery minerals for such vehicles are at least 40% sourced from North America or a U.S. trading partner starting in 2024, and then 100% of battery components have to be made in North America by 2029 to qualify for tax credits. The credit also won’t apply to a vehicle that has any battery components from an entity of concern - i.e. China - by 2024 and no critical minerals from those sources by 2025. This was necessary because Democrats wanted to pass out tax credits for electric vehicles like candy without any requirement that the material used in these vehicles be made in America. Here’s the problem: not a single EV on the market today would qualify for these credits because Democrats have repeatedly blocked domestic efforts to mine the critical minerals necessary to build EVs. Biden revoked the long-held lease at the Twin Metals mine in Minnesota, which would have provided copper, nickel, and cobalt. Biden blocked the development of Pebble Mine too, which would have provided copper, and also blocked a titanium mine in Georgia. Moreover, Biden has only approved *20* permits for mines during his whole time in office, with a backlog of 280 projects at BLM, and there are zero reforms included in the Inflation Expansion Act to make the permitting process easier to mine these materials. This is the same hypocrisy we see from the left on virtually every environmental policy they have become obsessed with. And let’s be clear… this bill Democrats passed will do NOTHING to reduce inflation but will do everything to increase your energy costs, taxes, and the number of IRS agents (87,000!!!) to audit and harass Americans. BUY YOUTH SUMMIT TICKETS NOW "I'M FROM THE IRS AND I'M HERE TO HELP" This week, Democrats just voted to hire 87,000 *more* IRS agents to harass Americans about their taxes. It was part of the “Inflation Reduction Act”… a ridiculous title for a ridiculous bill that I am proud to vote against. Guess how many Border Patrol agents we have to secure our southern border? Only 19,536. And guess how many additional Border Patrol agents will be hired to deal with the unprecedented illegal immigration crisis at our border under this Democrat bill? ZERO. That’s right… under the “Inflation Reduction Act” Democrats will make the IRS bigger than the Border Patrol, Pentagon, State Department, and the FBI…COMBINED. Democrats claim these new agents will crack down on tax fraud from billionaires and large corporations, and that these new agents will help generate the tax revenue to pay for the massive spending in this bill. But billionaires and large corporations employ armies of accountants and lawyers that can fight litigation from the IRS in tax court. Do you have an army of accountants and lawyers to fight the IRS? Of course not. Middle class Americans and small businesses don’t have those resources. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out who these 87,000 new IRS agents will target and harass with audits and tax penalties. But then again no one ever accused Chuck Schumer or Nancy Pelosi of being geniuses. This should tell you all you need to know about the left’s priorities. But it’s not enough to complain about it.. we actually have to be willing to DO something about it. And the good news is there’s a lot we can do. The first thing we need to do is take back the House of Representatives and take the Speaker’s gavel from Nancy Pelosi. And the only way we’ll do that is with patriots like you in this fight.
