Ever since Madison Cawthorn lost his primary election in May, and his antics stopped appearing in the headlines and on cable news, we’ve seen a major slowdown in fundraising.

I want to level with you - this race was never about beating Madison Cawthorn just because he was embarrassing. This campaign is, and has always been, about giving WNC the leadership it deserves – instead of the insidious and extreme far-right politics that Meadows, Cawthorn, and our opponent Chuck Edwards have spent their careers imposing on their constituents.

While Edwards refuses to explain his stances to voters because he knows they are out of step with WNC values, and refuses to debate because he knows Jasmine will hold him accountable, his actions as a state Senator tell us all we need to know. In the past six years, Edwards:

❌ Wrote budgets in secret

❌ Obstructed popular and life-saving policies, including expanding Medicaid (until he started running for Congress)

❌ Supported "Don’t Say Gay" legislation and touted steering over 1 million dollars in tax-payer funded grants to controversial, religiously affiliated anti-choice “Crisis Pregnancy Centers”

❌ Sat on a $6 billion fund that could be used to fund universal Pre-K and pay teachers a fair wage, giving educators the quality of life and dignity they deserve, improving our children’s ability to learn, and helping our state confront the ongoing teacher shortage.

Since day one, Jasmine has been honest with you about who she is and what she’s fighting for. And that’s why she wanted me to let you know that although we’ve been seeing a slowdown since Cawthorn lost the primary, our entire team on the ground has what it takes to flip this battleground district blue.
