Dear John,

I endorsed Helena Buonanno Foulkes for governor of Rhode Island. Regardless of any political ideology, I believe that we should first look at the leadership qualities and values of a candidate. We need someone who is curious and has a growth-mindset, is driven and focused, and has the political courage to take on the big issues. We also need someone who is compassionate, genuine, trustworthy. Because of her leadership qualities and values, I am convinced that Helena will be the Governor that this moment requires. 

 

As I think about the challenges that our state faces, two issues stand out and convince me that Helena is the candidate best equipped to address them. With the threat of a recession looming, her unique background and skill set give me confidence that she will help lift our economy and support businesses of every size in our state.

Second, and even more important, I am supporting Helena because of the bold stance she has taken on public education. In fact, she has staked her entire governorship on improving public schools and it is clear that education will be her top priority. Our schools have been failing our kids for decades and we need a leader like her, who is not beholden to any special interest, to deliver big changes. 

I know Helena is a leader who listens and gets things done without compromising core values or the promises she’s made. That’s why I’m endorsing Helena for Governor. I hope you will support her too and help RI get big things done!
