The emission cuts and clean energy investments we won in the Inflation Reduction Act are huge.

Justice Democrats

John,

We won some historic climate spending in the Inflation Reduction Act passed by the Senate yesterday. We won $369 billion of investments in clean energy. We won a 40% carbon emissions cut by 2030. We won the biggest piece of climate legislation in American history (so far).

Justice Democrats were an integral part of this landmark achievement. Before we break down just how it happened, can you chip in $3 to help us continue the fight for critical progressive policies?

First, Justice Democrats formed after the Bernie Sanders 2016 campaign in order to elect a new generation of progressive leaders who could replace corporate-backed Democrats in Congress.

We went all-in behind Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s insurgent 2018 primary against the 4th most powerful Democrat in the House, Joe Crowley. And we won — shaking the political establishment in a huge way.

Then, as soon as AOC got to Capitol Hill, she joined a historic protest with Sunrise Movement and Justice Democrats in Speaker Pelosi’s office, demanding that Democrats come up with a Green New Deal industrial plan to address the climate crisis.

Over the next three and a half years, the Squad, Sunrise, Justice Democrats, and many others protested, organized, and fought to make climate legislation a top priority for voters. Democratic lawmakers were forced to take this issue seriously.

New York Times headline that reads 'Climate is taking on a growing role with voters, research suggests' and subheadline reads 'Concern about global warming is steady despite other crises, a survey found, and the number of voters who are deeply engaged on the issue is rising sharply.'

Our organizing helped lead to AOC and Sunrise getting appointed to form Biden’s climate agenda. Eventually, major investments and commitments to slash emissions and create clean energy jobs made it into the Inflation Reduction Act.

Rolling Stone headline reads 'Holy Sh*t. Senate Actually Passed a Climate Bill' and subheadline reads 'The historic legislation could significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions'

John, Justice Democrats will never stop showing up for the fight for action to address the climate crisis. We need your support to keep electing leaders who will join AOC and the Squad in this fight. Can you chip in today?

→ Yes, I can donate $3 to fuel the work to elect more climate leaders and pass transformative climate legislation.

The historic climate spending in the Inflation Reduction Act is the result of years of organizing by communities, young people, and the Green New Deal movement. It's the result of the power we currently have and we need more to make this the first chapter of our fight, not the last. Thank you for fighting alongside us.

In solidarity,

Justice Democrats
