Across the Commonwealth of Virginia and the entire country, families are suffering from rising costs, limited access to quality health care, and the effects of climate change.

These issues are the top priorities for millions of families, and they’re top priorities for me, too.

That’s why I’m proud to support the Inflation Reduction Act -- a bill that we Democrats have been working on for nearly two years, and will take meaningful steps toward addressing those issues and many others. This bill isn't everything we hoped for, but it has a lot to be proud of.

It will not only lower inflation and reduce the deficit by increasing taxes on large corporations and the wealthy, but it will also tackle climate change by reducing carbon emissions by 40 percent by 2030.

Just as important, the bill lowers health care costs by finally allowing Medicare to negotiate prescription drug prices and extends the expanded Affordable Care Act program through 2025.
