Dear John,

Domestic violence can devastate the lives of all involved. The situation is even worse for victims who are not US citizens.

In Marisol’s case, her young daughter witnessed all the abuse she suffered at the hands of her husband. Once, he strangled her in front of the children and she ended up in the ER. She was asked to testify against her partner. Feeling hopeless and isolated, Marisol feared deportation after her interaction with the police. In cases like this, many will not seek help.

Marisol saw how her daughter was changing. She cried every night from her nightmares. She stopped eating. She refused to leave the house. It broke Marisol’s heart so she sought help from NVFS' Multicultural Center (MC) for her daughter despite the threat.

Services like this are critical for immigrant families seeking protection from their abusers. And the MC is the only local provider of services that are affordable, culturally competent, and trauma-informed.

Like Marisol’s family, another family out there needs your help.

Will you donate to our special ‘A Community Thrives’ challenge* to help our immigrant neighbors find safety and healing so they can once again step out and thrive? <[link removed]>

With gratitude,
