As usual we’ll bring you all the updates on the bans and bad guys of the week, but also brighten your day with some good news like Atlanta GA making a big donation to an abortion fund and a Michigan judge blocking a 1931 abortion ban. We also deep dive into the KANSAS win because while we are excited, we’ve gotta have a frank discussion about “victory” when some of the people who voted to protect their right to abortion also voted for candidates who will continue to fight to remove it! It’s messy. Plus we talk to someone with unique insight into these dark days - Judith Arcana, one of the original “Janes”, a secret pre-Roe network of young women in Chicago who helped folks access abortion before it was legal. HBOMax is currently streaming an amazing documentary about “The Janes” and it’s truly a must-see. Judith will reflect on her experience as a Jane and discuss the parallels and differences between our pre-Roe and post-Roe realities.
