Revealing yourself as pro-Israel on campus can make you a target. Students need your support.

Dear John,

“What is it like being Jewish on campus?”

I recently asked this question to a group of Jewish students at a prestigious American university, and their answers were disturbing.

They said that while being a person who practices the Jewish faith is completely acceptable, the moment you reveal yourself to be a supporter of the Jewish state, you are in trouble.

These students need our help.

Your gift to AJC allows us to prepare and protect young Jews so they have the confidence to stand up for Israel and their Jewish identity. And if you give now, every dollar will be matched.

This is the reality: On many of America’s college campuses today, students who are pro-Israel—or even those who just don’t go out of their way to renounce Israel—have been treated with open contempt and even harassment by many of their fellow students.

They have been bullied during anti-Israel boycott and divestment campaigns on campuses across the country.

They have been tormented and intimidated, as they were in April when a meeting of student leaders at UC Berkeley exploded into cheers as an audience member called out “F*** Zionists!”

And, on more than one occasion, they have been deemed unfit for student government office. This happened just a few weeks ago when anti-Israel activists tried to force a Jewish student leader to resign for planning to participate in an organized trip to Israel.

Yet, despite all of this, there are brave students willing to pay a price for standing with Israel. It’s up to us to have their back.

When you support AJC, you are making sure that we have the resources to train high school students across 12 U.S. cities every year as part of our award-winning Leaders for Tomorrow (LFT) program. LFT alumni head to college ready to be capable Jewish advocates.

Your support ensures that, when students get to campus, AJC is there to go on teaching them how to form alliances with other ethnic and religious groups so young Jews don’t have to stand alone.

And your support guarantees that we’ll be able to continue engaging with campus administrations by bringing university presidents and student affairs officers to Israel to learn the truth about this country that means so much to all of us.

Our students are relying on you—and so is AJC. Please donate now so your gift and impact can be doubled. [link removed]

It’s up to us to make sure that our young people can live full and fulfilling lives as Jews and supporters of Israel, without having to hide or suppress a part of who they are. [link removed]

Thank you for your support,
