Dear John,
?
For the last 3 weeks, we (Field Director Sarah Hutson and Co-Chair Stephen Smith) have been traveling the state to meet with WV Can't Wait endorsed candidates, face-to-face. We use these strategy sessions to craft a tailored, week-by-week campaign plan for the general election. It's a sort of traveling political machine, but for candidates who aren't bought and paid for.
?
It was a blast to strategize friendbanks with house candidate Eric Sebert on his family farm in Nicholas County, over soup beans and cornbread. Or landing on a fundraising strategy with accountant and community leader Tony Martin and his terrific team in Beckley. Or working on communications with coach/teacher/author/landowner/safe water advocate Becky "Vote Becky By Hecky" Crabtree.
The average WV Can't Wait donation is $39. But that adds up.
?
Thanks to your contributions of money and time, we're able to offer these candidates...
?
$250 seed cash per cycle
up to 1000 door cards, and a door-knocking toolkit
up to 2500 postcards, and a postcard toolkit
a phonebanking program
a friendbanking program
a textbank, that we'll run for them
a Facebook ad buy
a personalized webpage and professional headshot
help with material designs
help with their financial reports
help with communications, policy, and field training
access to our mental health and movement safety programs
weekly or monthly check-ins
and whatever else comes up :)
?
Our program isn't perfect, but it's a good start. And it's getting better, thanks to these terrific candidates and their local teams. Wanna pitch-in? You can help us reach our general election fundraising goals by making a donation at wvcantwait.com. Or, you can sign-up to be a postcard writer or door-knocking volunteer for one of these great candidates by completing this form: https://forms.gle/aVgZAe5FMrbA1tR77.
?
See you 'round,
?
Sarah & Stephen
?
PS The tour's only half-way through. We've got more adventures and photos and campaign checks ahead :) Stay tuned...
