Does tapping the bottom of a beer can really stop it fizzing over?

Among the great questions in science, one stands sadly neglected: Is it possible to stop a shaken beer can from foaming by tapping it before opening? Today, we get an answer thanks to Elizaveta Sopina at the University of Southern Denmark and a few colleagues. This group has tested the theory for the first time using randomized controlled trials involving 1,000 cans of lager.

Is hard seltzer a fad? New data suggests otherwise

Sanjiv Gajiwala, vice president of marketing at Mark Anthony Brands, makers of White Claw, is bullish on the future of the hard seltzer segment. He might be biased, but new data from IWSR backs him up, saying that sales of hard seltzer are expected to more than triple by 2023.

What’s ahead for retail? Simple…just look to the past

Writing for Chain Store Age, Anne Mastin says that going forward, stores and formats will continue to need to evolve if they want to survive. That’s not new—that’s how it has always been in the retail world. She says talk of a retail apocalypse is ridiculous because retailers will continue to evolve to meet the consumer’s needs.
