Democrats are clinging bitterly to their delusional hope Donald Trump committed a crime.
The Texas Minute

Good morning,

Here is today's Texas Minute.

  • The much-hyped hearing featuring Democrats grilling Special Counsel Robert Mueller yesterday further demonstrated the complete intellectual bankruptcy of the political left. And that Mueller, well, isn’t too bright. Bless his heart.

  • Prediction: We can expect 466 more days of Democrats clinging bitterly to their delusional hope Donald Trump committed some crime or other, which will be followed by four years of them demanding new investigations into his 2020 re-election. Agree?

  • It’s been 18 years since Congress last adopted a balanced budget. As Matt Stringer writes, growing the federal deficit seems to be a reliable point of unity for the majority of lawmakers on both sides of the aisle. A majority, but certainly not all.

  • “The budget deal reached by administration negotiators and congressional leadership is yet another missed opportunity to rein in excessive government spending. This deal irresponsibly jacks up spending by $320 billion without real offsets and suspends the debt limit into 2021. Instead of finally dealing with our nearly $1 trillion deficit and $22 trillion debt, this deal just kicks the can down the road again.” – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz

  • “Congress should reject the current spending ‘deal,’ which fails in virtually all respects. It busts caps (further), increases debt, funds Planned Parenthood... yet, does not fund ICE and border security fully. So, it does NOT do what we said.” – U.S. Rep. Chip Ro

  • In a report on the legislative session, Daniel Greer of Direct Action Texas writes: “It’s impossible to review the legislative session as it pertains to election integrity and conclude anything other than [Arlington Republican State Rep. Stephanie] Klick cutting off conservative reforms at the knees.”

  • Today’s edition of Texas Scorecard Radio features Tony McDonald’s interview with State Sen. Bob Hall (R-Edgewood) about reining in the abusive – and possibly illegal – actions of Texas’ Child Protective Services.

  • Plano officials decided this week to delay a decision on Plano’s controversial comprehensive development plan, leaving unresolved a costly years-long legal battle with residents who petitioned for a referendum vote on the plan. Erin Anderson has the details.

  • Earlier this week I had the pleasure of addressing the Texas Patriots meeting in Burleson alongside my friend Pastor Rafael Cruz. We both discussed the challenges facing Texas going into the 2020 election, and the need for citizens to be more involved than ever.

  • “The fear of the Lord has been replaced [in church pulpits] with the fear of not being politically correct... if I could blame one group of people for what’s happening in America, it would be the pastors.” – Pastor Rafael Cruz
