‌ ‌ WEEKLY UPDATE July 29th, 2022 Dear Kansas friends, Thank you for your interest in receiving my newsletter. Please feel free to share this with your friends and family. Bringing Amelia Earhart to the Capitol This week, I joined my fellow Kansans to unveil the Amelia Earhart statue in the United States Capitol. It was my honor to close out this remarkable tribute in prayer and celebrate a true American pioneer. Watch HERE Amelia's historic and record-breaking career inspired millions across the globe and paved the way for aviation in America. I joined my fellow Kansans to reflect on her legacy. Read more HERE Honoring Topeka Firefighters I am grateful for the bravery, service, and sacrifice of these three Topeka firefighters. Join me in praying for a successful deployment and a safe return home for these Kansans. Read more HERE We are Officially in a Recession The American economy is officially in a recession. Democrats' solution? Push a new $700 BILLION reconciliation package that raises taxes on Kansas families and businesses. Regardless of the Biden Administration's spin and continued attempts to redefine a recession, Kansans are struggling in this economy. It's time Congress focuses on a pro-growth agenda that puts American workers, businesses, and families first. Holding Biden Accountable for Selling our Reserve Oil to China President Biden exported millions of barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to Communist China. These reckless actions threaten our national security and do nothing to lower gas prices for Kansans. I joined my colleagues to hold the Biden Administration accountable. Read more HERE Criminals are Taking Advantage of Biden's Border Crisis Drug cartels are smuggling fentanyl from China across our southern border in record numbers. In the first 6 months of last year, Kansas saw a 54% increase in drug overdoses—half were tied to fentanyl. The border crisis continues to impact communities and families across Kansas. Fentanyl is the number one killer of Americans 18-45. These individuals were charged with trafficking 150,000 fentanyl pills and were released on cashless bail. When their court date arrived, they were nowhere to be found. Soft-on-crime policies put our communities in danger. Read more HERE Criminals, weapons, drugs, and trafficked persons are being smuggled across our southern border in record numbers. According to the New York Times, Mexican Cartels are making $13 BILLION a year from President Biden's border crisis. They made $500 million in 2018. Read more HERE We Must Get Inflation Under Control Prices are rising faster than paychecks. Inflation-adjusted incomes are down 3.6% compared to a year ago, and many Americans are struggling to keep up with this unexpected pay cut. Instead of reining in federal spending to fight inflation, House Democrats passed a $400B spending bill this week. We Must Secure the Border Now Close to a million people have avoided law enforcement at our southern border and entered America undetected since President Biden took office. Congress must pass the Border Security for America Act to ensure our brave Border Patrol agents have the resources they need to contain this crisis. Korean War Veterans Armistice Day Wednesday was National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day. Join me in honoring and remembering the brave Americans that served our nation during the Korean War. We will never forget the thousands of servicemen and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. God Bless our veterans.
