This week the Burmese military executed four political prisoners.

Dear John

This week the Burmese military executed four political prisoners. It is the first time political prisoners have been executed by the Burmese military since before 1988.

Ko Jimmy, Phyo Zeya Thaw, Hla Myo Aung and Aung Thura Za were executed by hanging.

The executions are a sign of desperation, not strength by the Burmese military, as they face growing resistance since the attempted coup began last year. The military is hoping they will terrify people into submission. They will not succeed.

Our statement is available on our website here. ([link removed])

The people of Burma continue to resist the military in every way they can, but the same can’t be said for the British government and the rest of the international community.

Pressure needs to be applied on the Burmese military in every way we can, cutting off supplies of arms and money, and ensuring they face justice for their crimes.

The British government and EU can and must do more.

Here are three actions you can take:

Tell British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss to expel the Burmese military attaché from the UK.

Tell the European Union to impose more sanctions to cut off the supply of arms and money to the Burmese military.

Tell British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss to join the Rohingya genocide case at the International Court of Justice, starting the process of the Burmese military finally facing justice.

Take action here. ([link removed])

There are more than 100 political prisoners who have been given the death sentence and now face hanging. We have to do everything we can to increase international pressure on the Burmese military.

Thank you for your support.
