John, I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am to be writing this email to you tonight.

Over the course of this campaign, lots of people have asked me whether or not we can win this thing. And while a lot of other candidates get mad when they’re asked that question, I don’t blame them. Because if there’s one thing I knew going into this, it’s that it was going to be an uphill battle; everyone knows exactly what happened here in District 6:

It was gerrymandered by the GOP-controlled state legislature as a way to guarantee a seat for Rich McCormick, the man who couldn’t win a fair race against Carolyn Bourdeaux two years ago. That’s why they redrew the boundaries to turn our battleground district into one with a +24 republican leaning.

I got into this race not because I knew I would win, but because I saw it as my duty and obligation to do so; it’s the same reason I spent a decade in the military: I believe in this country’s principles, its people, and that our unfulfilled promise--a guarantee to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness--can be realized for every American, and in our lifetimes.

But now, John, I’m excited to announce that we’ve made incredible headways towards winning this race and proving the system wrong.

A brand new survey from The Cook Report shows that the existing R+24 leaning has been reduced by MORE THAN HALF to R+11. That’s 13 points, with nothing but a dream and one hell of a grassroots network behind us; thank you for being a part of our team.

It’s an incredible achievement for any campaign to get this far this fast, and it’s proof that we can win this race. No doubt in my mind, McCormick and the Corporate PACs backing him are shaking in their boots right now.
