Levi Jordan Plantation Visitors Center Opening [ [link removed] ]

Last month, Levi Jordan Plantation State Historic Site [ [link removed] ] in Brazoria celebrated the opening of a visitors center and archeology lab. This site was the location of a sizable plantation operation. In the 1840s, Levi Jordan of Georgia moved his family and 12 enslaved Black people to Texas to grow sugar and cotton on the San Bernard River. By 1860, 134 people were enslaved here. Today, Levi Jordan Plantation provides a unique opportunity to understand the evolving agricultural history of the South and the early African American experience in Texas.
