Over the years, I’ve been proud to stand on the picket lines with
teachers, on the railroad tracks with coal miners, with workers at
Churchill Downs.

Together, we held the line for fair wages, the right to unionize, sick
days and paid family leave, and for a shot at bettering our children’s
future. Because that’s what we do in Kentucky. It’s part of who we are.
It was in our hills where the labor movement got its legs, and we’ve been
holding the line ever since.
On July 26, 1973, KY Brookside Coal Miners walked off the job and went on
strike. After 13 months, they won and secured a contract. In 2019, when I
stood on the tracks in Harlan with Blackjewel miners, I felt that same
fighting spirit.

That’s the kind of fighter I’ll be in the Senate. The workers I’ve met are
the very reason why I’m running this election to replace Rand Paul.
Recently, Rand introduced legislation that would nationalize anti-union
policies. Legislation that has proven to reduce worker pay and put more
money in the pockets of the rich. Together, we must vote out politicians
like Rand who are funded by companies that benefit from his anti-union
agenda.

I’ve always believed that our fates as Kentuckians are intertwined.
The fight for higher wages is connected to the fight for clean water. The
fight for reproductive healthcare is connected to the fight for racial
justice. Because an attack on one of us is an attack on all of us.
We’re so proud of the pro-worker movement we’re building. This is exactly
the kind of momentum we need to make our voices heard this election and
replace Rand Paul.
