Welcome to our weekly newsletter about mental health services and support available in Barnet and beyond. Also bringing you updates on Inclusion Barnet mental health news. Produced by Ed Peston, Communications Assistant.

Inclusion Barnet News and Events Senior vacancy – Head of User Voice (peer role)

We have an exciting new opportunity to join our senior team in a thriving and innovative Deaf and Disabled People’s Organisation, and a real opportunity for a talented disabled person to make a difference.

Job Title: Head of User Voice (peer role)

Full-time: Permanent

Location: our Colindale office, meetings across Barnet, extensive opportunities for home working.

Salary: £43,000 per year

Job vacancy – Healthwatch Manager (peer role)

We’re hiring for a new Manager to lead our Healthwatch Barnet team!

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with lived experience of disability (which could include a long term condition or mental health issue) to lead a small team in the delivery of Barnet’s statutory Healthwatch function.

Job Title: Manager, Healthwatch Barnet (peer role)

Full-time: Permanent

Location: our Colindale office, meetings across Barnet, extensive opportunities for home working.

Salary: £35,750 per year

Job vacancy – Touchpoint Enquiries Peer Worker

Application deadline extended to 31 July 2022, and now offered as either full or part time (28 hours per week).

We are looking to employ a passionate, motivated individual with excellent communication and people skills to join our Touchpoint Team as part of a team of four Touchpoint Peer Workers.

Salary: £27,750 (or, if part time then pro rata, actual salary £22,200 per annum)

Contract: Fixed term contract to 31 August 2024

Working hours: Option for full time or part time (28 hours per week)

Location: Hybrid (Barnet, NW9 & home working, plus borough meetings)

Disability Rights UK campaigning conference: 28 July

Disabled people are finding it tougher than ever to have our voices heard. Many of us feel ignored or left out of the conversation. But we know that through difficult times, Disabled people always show resilience and drive, to continue campaigning for equality and inclusion.

To mark the tenth anniversary of Disability Rights UK and to celebrate the collective power of the disability movement, we are holding an online campaigning conference on Thursday 28th of July 2022 offering a range of masterclasses and workshops to support our joint efforts to campaign for equality and inclusion.

Masterclasses will include sessions on using the law, improving communication messaging and social media skills. Workshop topics will include social care charging, the cost of living crisis, employment and Disability Hate Crime.

The conference is a chance to share our experiences, learn new skills, build on successful campaigning methods and develop campaign plans and networks.

Nearly all of our directors and staff have lived experience of disability, including mental health issues and/or long-term health conditions.
