Thanks good talk.

Hey John,

There are four things I'm going to share with you at the end of this
email. One is very big for me, and two are happening today, involving
you being part of one of my favorite TV shows. But I have to say some
things first.

The world is very complex these days. And it seems things have been
getting more and more twisted. More splintered. And human life has
become too multifaceted. We are just animals but EVERY SINGLE ANIMAL
ON EARTH (except us) doesn't have to worry about any of it. Everything
we worry about, they aren't even aware of it. Animals don't have to
worry about anything at all really. Beyond just finding food and
water, and staying alive. (Occasionally they also decide to make
animal noises. But it seems more like a fun choice. Like wolves
howling at the moon, or drunk girls going "WOOOOO!".) But we think we
are so much better than animals for some reason. Why? Because we
over-complicated our lives and now we're stressed about forty things
at once that probably don't actually matter at all in the grand
scheme? Or because the few that do are going backwards? Like climate
action rolling back, and women's rights disappearing, and gun laws
loosening. Yeah, we're so much better than the animals! (While they
wander around, chillin' wherever they want, blissfully taking naps all
day. Those loser animals don't even have retirement savings accounts!
(Neither do most of us really, but compared to monkeys we are killing
it financially.)

This all would make me be totally over humanity, except for the fact
that we didn't have a choice. We didn't ask to develop self-awareness
and complex language that inevitably led to economies and governments
and media and liars. Liars wouldn't exist if we didn't have enough
words to lie effectively with. A groundhog has no ability to lie. Or
incentive. So I try to cut us humans some slack.

But I'm sorta losing patience. With things like the Jan 6 hearings
playing out in crystal clear detail of the orange monster's guilt in
actively (and still today) trying to take down our democracy just
because he likes being the most famous, and it still not seeming to
lose him much support. Or a Supreme Court making clearly political
decisions that make us less safe, yet we just live with it like it's a
parking ticket. Or 30-40 percent of the population believing dozens of
totally incorrect things, while nearly none of them seem like they can
be convinced to even remember that truth used to be an important
thing. So part of me remains mad and tries to change it. And part of
me is over it and wants to just say fuck it. But I'd say there's a 22%
chance I just decide to find me some berries, move into a tree, and
take naps all day.

So the four things cover this spectrum pretty well. The dichotomy that
my mind always straddles. AKA something for everyone! Starting with
the two today, Saturday July 23...

If you want to be part of one of my favorite TV shows, "Showtime's
Greenroom with Paul Provenza", an amazing live conversation between 5
very smart and unique comedians, hosted by the comedy Yoda, Paul
himself, live from his backyard (with four of us doing standup as
well), you can be there with us today FROM ANYWHERE ON EARTH at
7:30pm PT/10:30pm ET, you can on Nowhere Comedy. (2 of the comics were
recently on Variety's 10 Comics To Watch list.) We set it up all night
last night (photos below) and it's gonna be very cool. You will
literally be in the crowd live with us, projected onto a wall, next to
the audience of comedians and our friends, and you will have the
chance to participate as well. We will see and hear you all through
the show. So if you want to be part of discussing the world while we
help you laugh at it all, get a ticket HERE (

And if you still live anywhere in the world and haven't moved to
another planet since the last paragraph, ALSO LIVE TODAY is the
only “GLEIB OFF THE TOP: Crowd Work & Improvised Madness” that I
have done in over 4 weeks, and probably won't do again for a few more.
That's TODAY at 4p/7e. This show is for you if you want to forget
about the problems of the world and just laugh and be silly, and come
hang in our global fictional town called MAD TOWN. Come be one of
the Mad Ones. Get a ticket HERE (
[link removed] ).

And if you are like me and enjoy doing both, then get a ticket to
both! Let's hang out all day.

I have also been pouring my heart and soul and brain for the last two
months into doing three videos a week for The Young Turks Rebel HQ.
(I've done 25 videos now.) Commenting on everything from politics to
Karen videos. Some are getting hundreds of thousands of views. You can
watch my videos HERE (

).

And burying the lead, as I often do, I'll end this email with THE BIG
THING... I finally have a release date for my NEW HOUR STANDUP
SPECIAL!!! It drops on Youtube in just three weeks! AUGUST
14TH!!! I'm very proud of it, and I think it perfectly captures the
split in me between social commentary and total silliness. And, after
three sleepless days of torturing myself, I finally chose a name for
it too! (I'll share that here next week.) Stay tuned.

Thanks for all your support, always.
And keep climbing. You know, like monkeys do.
