What does the nationwide decline in local news have to do with dis- and misinformation (DisMis)?

As communities are left without a source for local news, they gravitate to social media and national news which can often be more partisan. Not to mention, social media is fertile ground for misinformation. We’re driven to stop DisMis in its tracks before it has a chance to spread. Will you support our work?

According to a recent study, we will have lost one-third of local newspapers across the country by 2025. This will ultimately affect poorer communities across the political spectrum and as a result, exacerbate divisions and tensions.

In a rapidly changing environment, we need to move quickly to reduce the spread of DisMis. The George Washington Initiative aims to be part of the solution. Will you support our work by chipping in $10 or whatever you can?
