Missouri Net News [link removed] Grants Available from GBCS
Grants are available to support local UMC churches, annual conferences, caucuses and community partners to further ministries of Justice and Peace. The timeframe to submit grant applications to The General Board of Church and Society is August 1 to September 16 via the new online application system opening on their website [link removed] (Grants page) August 1.
Funding is provided through three grant programs
Ethnic Local Church Grants focus on the self-identified needs of ethnic local churches and persons as they address one or more chronic social issues or concerns.
Human Relations Day Grants support advocacy and community engagement aimed at uplifting the right of all God&rsquo;s children to realize their potential in right relationship with one another.
Peace with Justice Grants support programs and projects that witness to God&rsquo;s demands for a faithful, just, disarmed, and secure world.

Lessons from the Fresh Expressions Movement
What can we learn from the Fresh Expression movement&rsquo;s novel approach to forming new faith communities? Ann Michel of the Lewis Center staff interviews Luke Edwards, a church developer from Western North Carolina. He shares how a process that begins with listening and relationship building can lead to the formation of new, nontraditional worshipping communities among those unlikely to attend church on Sunday mornings.
