John, for as long as I can remember, service has been my purpose. It’s why I joined the Army, took on extra training, and volunteered for the CIA after 9/11. Then, after my career in national security, witnessing the harm of Donald Trump’s administration, and watching the events of January 6th, 2021, I knew I needed to step up again.
Knowing my father was a combat veteran and watching him represent our district in Congress with integrity were formative experiences that influenced the course of my life. More than anything else, my father was able to make a difference in the lives of hardworking families in our communities. That is what I most want to do now.
In tonight’s debate, I will make clear my dedication to our western and central Wisconsin communities and my plans to deliver real solutions to the real problems facing us: creating affordable childcare solutions for working families, ensuring healthcare access, securing our supply chain to boost our economy, defending our democracy, and more.
I deeply believe this is a message that will resonate with our voters.
However, winning this election will depend on having the resources we need to stay competitive in this primary field and throughout the general election period.
