MCRGO 2019 Annual Meeting Summary
MCRGO's annual members meeting was held at Coral Gables in East Lansing on Friday,
December 6, 2019 from 11 AM to 2 PM and was attended by 57 members in person and
7 remotely via the Facebook Live broadcast on MCRGO Coffee Table. Due to the challenge
in fitting in all business in 3 hours, the chair has decided to expand the 2020
meeting to 4 hours.
The 2020-21 Board of Directors including new members, Susan McCray-King and Sen.
Pete Lucido, was seated following a silent prayer for the victims of violent crime
and the Pledge of Allegiance.
10,344 total members as of 12.5.19 (8,331 on 12.1.18)
New legislative positions:
HB 5098: SUPPORT
HB 5116: SUPPORT
HB 5190: OPPOSE
HB 5272: SUPPORT
HB 5275-77: OPPOSE
HB 5286: SUPPORT
SB 678-680: OPPOSE
Nate DeWeerd and Audree Danielson were appointed as Senior Master Instructors.
An Education Committee proposal for the allotment of Master Instructors was approved.
Education Committee is to develop an application method for the appointment of vacancies.
All four 2019 officers were re-elected for 2020 without challengers.
Marcy Jankovich (GOP), Bill Lavoy (DEM) and Matt Jackson (LIB) were appointed to
MCRGO PAC for 2020.
Nancy Crenshaw was awarded the 2019 service recognition.
The small group round tables decided MCRGO should engage in increased marketing
to build brand awareness, tell MCRGO's story, further increase membership, and promote
firearms education. The marketing should specifically target women, millennials,
racial minorities, Realtors, churches, youth shooting sports, and home school parents.
"Every Person" is suggested as the marketing message. Social media should be the
dominant form of marketing.
New business (for March Board conference call):
-Marketing budget for 2020
-Fill Master Instructor vacancies
-Member proposal for new online store for MCRGO merchandise
-Member proposal for MCRGO to have regular 3 year audits
-Member proposal for MCRGO to purchase directors and officers insurance
