King is a two-year-old lion living at Born Free’s big cat sanctuary in Shamwari Private Game Reserve, South Africa.

In 2017 King was found inside a cramped, filthy cage in an apartment on the outskirts of Paris. Just a few months old, he was a victim of the illegal trade in wild animals. Thankfully he was rescued and thanks to the generosity of our supporters, Born Free was able to provide him with a safe new home in South Africa.

King is one of the lucky ones, but his story highlights the plight of millions of captive wild animals around the world that are kept as exotic pets – exploitation that Born Free is determined to end.

By adopting King, you will be helping us to provide him with expert lifetime care.
