You know me, I’m a skeptic. (Yeah, yeah, to a fault, I get it), and when these January 6th hearings started, I was doubtful. I bet you were too. Could they actually break through and hold the public’s attention?

The primetime hearing started with a bang and they have not let up. These hearings continue to show a depth of criminal coordination that started with Trump and was abetted by everyone in his orbit - from top administration officials to the nutjob rioters who stormed our Capitol to shed blood for him. When you see the January 6th Committee’s evidence of the sheer moral depravity of basically everyone around Trump, it’s enough to convince even the deepest skeptic.

Don’t believe me that the hearings are working? Two thirds of Americans are now OK with the Justice Department bringing charges against elected officials who tried to overturn our election. More and more keep tuning in. If Trump taught us anything, it’s that the American public loves a spectacle. And these hearings sure provide the fireworks.

And make no mistake about it, this is having an impact on the 2022 Midterms. We are working hard to win in places like Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan – where democracy is on the ballot this fall, and more voters are realizing the stakes every day.

Why do you think Democrats are leading in polls for most swing state Senate races? Why are Democrats tied with or leading the insanity that is the GOP on the generic ballot for the House? 

This ain’t your father’s political climate. Voters are getting a primetime show proving that Trump and his allies knowingly and willingly incited a violent insurrection. (Take note every time Liz Cheney says “illegally” or “unconstitutionally.” Please, Merrick Garland, call your office). 

It might surprise some of the talking heads on TV who are stuck assuming low approval ratings means doom and gloom, but guess what: for the American public, these hearings are making a big difference. And if these hearings are any indication, a lot more is coming. 

So when voters go to the polls this November, they are going to remember the crazy. We’ve been saying this since the day we founded The Lincoln Project. When Biden won, we kept up the pressure. That led Trumpland to try to get the Justice Department to attack us by name. But we didn’t let up, and we never will.
