Hey Alliance Fam!
This summer, youth organizers everywhere have been working hard to get their communities ready for the primaries and the upcoming midterm elections.To continue highlighting the work of Alliance youth organizers, weโ€™re introducing you to more young people as part of our Youth Organizer Spotlights. This storytelling project focuses on the individual narratives of youth organizers who drive the collective local organizing power in the Alliance Network. This time, weโ€™re shining the light on our organizers making moves in their rural communities.
Meet Our Rural Organizers
59.3 million people live in rural areas, including youth voters. Youth voters in rural areas are more likely to face barriers to casting their ballot by mail or have to travel further to their polling location. We talked to Alliance organizers working in rural areas of Mississippi and Wisconsin to tackle common misconceptions around organizing rural youth, and how it may differ from working in urban areas.
