John, the Democratic establishment has shown that it has a lot of priorities that come before fighting for the people.
When the Supreme Court’s decision overturning Roe v. Wade first leaked in early May, Speaker Pelosi continued campaigning for anti-choice conservative incumbent Henry Cuellar. Pelosi could have backed pro-choice Justice Democrat Jessica Cisneros, but Pelosi stuck with Cuellar.
Democratic energy, resources, and money could have been spent fighting to protect abortion rights before the final Roe decision was released. Pelosi could have spent time and money protecting the Democratic majority against the extremist GOP. Instead, it was more important to Pelosi to challenge progressives and protect an anti-choice conservative.
The same big corporations and mega-donors fund Democrats and Republicans — because the top priorities of the rich and powerful are to protect the status quo and their giant profit margins. Corporations, the GOP, Nancy Pelosi, AIPAC, none of them want to see progressives win elections, and they’ll spend millions to stop us.
The rise of the extreme right-wing Supreme Court and GOP state legislatures emboldened to dismantle voting rights, abortion rights, access to contraception, and LGBTQIA+ rights have been met with far too little action from corporate Democrats in Congress.
We need progressive leaders who will fight for working class people. That’s why we’re working to re-elect Justice Democrats Cori Bush, Rashida Tlaib, and Jamaal Bowman ahead of their August primaries. And we’re up against an onslaught of attack ads funded by corporate Democrats and the GOP.
It’s simple: the Democratic establishment cannot take action to protect our rights, fight climate change, and guarantee the health and safety of all people in this country when it’s too busy accepting donations from the ultra wealthy and attacking progressives.
It’s time to elect BETTER Democrats, not just the same corporate Democrats. We’re building a movement to re-elect Justice Democrats and expand our JD bloc in Congress.
Thank you for fighting alongside Cori, Rashida, Jamaal, and all of us at Justice Democrats.
In solidarity,
Justice Democrats
