Hi, team – my name is Maren! I’m an outreach assistant with Betty’s campaign, and I wanted to reach out to tell you about something incredibly important to me.

Today, Betty’s bill to permanently protect the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (H.R. 2794) will go through committee markup, which moves it one step closer to becoming law.

Before joining Team Betty, I dedicated as much time as I could working to protect the BWCA, Minnesota’s crown jewel. I met with legislators and worked with government agencies to ban toxic copper mining in the BWCA watershed, safeguard the thriving wilderness edge economy, and save the Boundary Waters that I love.

Betty has been at the forefront of this fight for years. She understands the value of clean water and fights tirelessly to preserve our public lands. It’s one of the reasons I respect her so much.

Without Betty in Congress to fight for Minnesota’s natural treasures, the Boundary Waters is vulnerable to foreign interests that would exploit and pollute our lands. Betty is vital to this fight. End of story.

If you care for these lands as I do, I hope you’ll chip in and help send our BWCA champion back to Congress. Betty is facing a well-funded opponent in the Democratic Primary election on August 9, and we have to give the next four weeks everything we’ve got.

Team, everyone has a wilderness story. Please chip in today to stand with Betty and help us win this race!

For the wilderness,

Maren Viker
