Friend,

Like all of you, the recent decisions from the Supreme Court about abortion access, gun laws, environmental protections, and indigenous land rights have shaken our team deeply. It’s not a question of if these decisions will impact our state, but when.

We’ve been working to find action steps that we can all take to protect Marylanders as much as we can, and will keep working. We hope you’ll join us, if you aren’t already.

GUN LAWS
The recent SCOTUS decision about New York’s conceal carry law has already had effects in Maryland [[link removed]] , and puts all state-level gun laws at risk. It’s more important than ever that we pass clear, strong, and necessary gun violence prevention laws.

A good first step would be to finally strengthen our Child Access Protection (CAP) law and keep guns out of the hands of our kids. This is especially important if more people will be able to carry firearms in public places. If you haven’t already, sign the pledge [[link removed]] to strengthen our CAP law and then send it to your elected officials [[link removed]] and ask them to do the same.

ABORTION ACCESS
With Roe v Wade overturned, the few states with state level abortion rights protections are the new front line, and protecting access to abortion care in states like Maryland is critical. One of the most important things we can do is help fund local abortion funds that provide information, travel expenses, lodging, and more support to folks seeking abortions.

Our favorite resource is donations4abortion.com [[link removed]] , which lists abortion funds by state, clinics, sharable messages, resources for abortion pills, and more.

Maryland has the strongest state-level legal protections for abortion of any of our southern neighbors. That means that people who need abortion care will travel from all over, and will need support. The Baltimore Abortion Fund does incredible work to support people who need abortions, both in and outside of Maryland. Here is their website [[link removed]] and here is where you can donate. Pro-Choice MD is also looking for volunteers to join their Action Teams at the sign up link here [[link removed]] .

Finally, it’s time to vote, Maryland! Find your polling place, request a mail-in ballot, learn how to vote early, and more with Common Cause MD here [[link removed]] .
