The Week in Review

Happy Friday!

I was happily in Arizona this week as the House was out of session. It was a still busy week, so I hope you’ll read below to learn about the important happenings:

Questioning DOJ’s Unfair Termination of Trump-Appointed
Immigration Judges Amid Biden Border Crisis

This week, I sent a letter along with 11 Republican House members to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland regarding the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) termination of at least a half-dozen Trump-appointed immigration judges amid a historic border crisis and rapidly growing immigration case backlog.

Trump Derangement Syndrome is still widespread within the Biden Administration. The DOJ’s abrupt firing of well-qualified immigration judges during an unprecedented border crisis—likely because they were appointed by President Trump—is unacceptable.

In this letter, I demand the rationale for terminating this group of judges, who the DOJ seeks employment guidance from, and communications related to these firings. These terminations are likely unjust and jeopardize our nation’s border security, public safety, and the integrity of our immigration system.

Attorney General Garland must provide us with details surrounding DOJ’s firing of Trump-appointed judges.

Co-signers include: Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ), Rep. Tom Tiffany (R-WI), Rep. Brian Babin (R-TX), Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-CO), Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), Rep. Kat Cammack (R-FL), Rep. Mary E. Miller (R-Ill), Rep. Randy K. Weber (R-TX), Rep. Andrew S. Clyde (R-GA), Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC), and Rep. Jody Hice (R-GA).

Naturalization Ceremony in Mesa

On July 4th, I had the honor of attending the naturalization ceremony for 75 new American citizens in Mesa.

I presented Congressional Recognition certificates to all who took an oath to this country and I’m grateful for the opportunity to welcome these individuals from all over the world.

America is still the greatest nation on Earth and I pray these individuals always appreciate the value of being an American.

United Food Bank Discussion and Tour

Yesterday, I toured the United Food Bank in Mesa and met with staff, board members, and volunteers. We discussed their food distribution process in the East Valley and eastern Arizona.

My office has been able to stay in contact with the leadership at United Food Bank on a regular basis to ensure they have what they need. I appreciate the way United Food Bank responded during the COVID-19 outbreak.

I am grateful for the opportunity to learn more about the United Food Bank and to meet with these outstanding individuals.

Zero Electric Vehicles (ZEVX) Visit

Today, I visited Zero Electric Vehicles (ZEVX)’s facility in Gilbert. ZEVX develops technologies to produce the most efficient Electric Vehicles (EV’s).

I met with ZEVX’s employees, management, owners, and investors and learned more about the company’s process of turning gas/diesel into electric power. ZEVX strives to lower the cost of entry for EV’s and to make them ultimately accessible to all Americans.

I appreciate the opportunity to speak at ZEVX and am thankful for what they provide to the Fifth District.

Definition of the Week

French queen Marie-Antoinette once famously quipped “let them eat cake” to starving peasants in France. The remarks displayed her obliviousness to the conditions her people faced and solidified her legacy as a cold-hearted and out of touch leader.

Today, President Joe Biden resembles many aspects of French queen Marie-Antoinette. He continues to ignore the pleas from everyday Americans to lower gas prices, curb inflation, and steer the country in a better direction.

Most Americans are paying more than $5 a gallon of gas--a historic figure--and President Biden and his administration have offered no real solutions other than to buy expensive electric vehicles like the $55,000 Tesla. This regime is simply out of touch and inconsiderate of the American people.

Courtesy of Michael Knowles’ Speechless, here’s what we think is the latest definition:

Lord Biden: An oblivious American leader who neglects the people amid historic energy and economic crises.
