Folks,

My faith is at the center of everything I do and is very personal to me. As a Christian minister, I walk alongside people on the best days of their lives and during the darkest hours. Through it all, I know that faith is a gift – and it carries responsibilities with it.

That’s why it’s so deeply disturbing to see Republican extremists, including my opponent Chuck Edwards, deploy faith as a political weapon to push their divisive, dangerous agenda. Just the other day, Edwards exclaimed that “Christian Conservatives are on the cusp of taking back our country.”

I’m running to replace such extremism with love, hope, and empathy – but I can’t do it without your support. So please, chip in $25 or whatever you can to my grassroots campaign.

Extremists on the Supreme Court are imposing their personal religious beliefs in order to deny Americans of their Constitutional rights. In a clear sign of where we are headed, Justice Clarence Thomas indicated he is prepared to overturn rulings protecting the freedom to marry the person you love and to access contraception.

Elected officials like Madison Cawthorn and my opponent Chuck Edwards are cheering on the fact that rights are being taken away from a majority of people in our country. They are using the power of their political platforms to advance a shared far-right agenda and cloaking their extremists positions in the language of patriotism and faith.

So let me be clear: if you want to talk about love of country and love of neighbor, then let’s start with the basics. Like making sure my daughter has the same rights as her brothers. And addressing the fact that one in four children in WNC live in poverty.

In this moment, we have to be very clear about what’s at stake in this race. Either WNC sends Chuck Edwards, another far-right extremist, to Congress, or I win and have the chance to deliver the leadership our district actually deserves. If you’re with us, will you chip in $25 or more to help me flip NC-11 blue today?
