We are so excited about this year's Resources to the Block/Ward 8 Health Pop-Ups. Our community pop-ups are in partnership with the Ward 8 Health Council who continues to support this amazing initative.
Resources to the Block/The Ward 8 Health Pop-Ups are in-person community engagement events that activate various neighborhoods across Ward 8. Our participating providers will offer a variety of services to include but not limited to:

  • Health screenings
  • Fresh produce pick-up
  • Mental health services and resources
  • Job opportunities
  • Housing resources
  • COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters
  • Colon Screening Take-Home Kits
  • Nutrition Education and more!

Resources to the Block is an inititative of Councilmember Trayon White's Public Safety strategy to mitigate the violence plaguing our Ward. We call on additional providers to join us throughout the summer. For more information, contact Jules Jessie at 202-812-8329 or [email protected]

Don't just stand there, do something!

DO YOU NEED HELP PAYING YOUR ENERGY BILL?

APPLY FOR ENERGY ASSISTANCE.

As a District of Columbia homeowner, you can apply for financial assistance through the DC Homeowners Assistance Fund (HAF) beginning on June 22.

The fund provides financial assistance to District residents trying to make housing-related payments. Eligible homeowners impacted by COVID-19 can apply for grant funding to cover mortgage payments and other housing expenses, including utility payment assistance, up to $4,000.

It is important that you act now since the District’s foreclosure moratorium on residential mortgages expires on June 30. When the moratorium ends, foreclosure proceedings may resume unless you have a financial assistance or payment application pending approval, or you are under appeal by the HAF program. If you are in the process of being reviewed for HAF, the moratorium will be extended through September 30, 2022.

Act now. Applications available now.

WASHINGTON (7News) — D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser dispatched 50 violence interrupters and 100 community outreach workers in an effort to prevent violent crime in the district on the Fourth of July.

Violent crime is up 10% over last year in the city, which is why the mayor sent out not just more officers to keep people safe but also dispatched their largest team of violence interrupters ever into communities like Columbia Heights.
